Tyne and Wear HUB 2015-16
Team GAW are proud to announce their participation in the newly formed Tyne and Wear Hub. An amalgamation of the six leading clubs in the Tyne–Wear area; namely Team GAW, Newcastle Swim Team, City of Sunderland, Tynemouth, and North and South Tyneside. This is an exciting opportunity for the club and it’s coaches, and most importantly, it’s swimmers.
The purpose of the hub is to pool the resources of all clubs and to provide a kaleidoscopic educational experience for both athletes and coaches; garnering the different expertise and methods of all participating clubs. Each club will provide a swimming coach and will take turns to host and lead a Hub training session, in which all hub athletes and coaches will attend. These sessions will take place once a month, on a weekend, for a minimum of six months.
Athlete selection is based around long course regional performance 2015 and is open to all non-beacon age group swimmers for the year ending 31/12/2016. Team GAW have used the following criteria model:
8 athletes to be chosen on the following scale: 1. NER Finalist 2. Top 15 3. Top 20
2 athletes to be given ‘Wild Card’ entries, chosen by coaching staff. Where possible priority will be given to older athletes falling within the correct age range.
It is important to note that an athlete’s places in the hub is seasonal and that the same criteria as above will be applied following NER championships 2016 before selection for next season is made. All athletes meeting the criteria above are to be given official Tyne & Wear Hub letters this week.
If you have any questions, please come to me and I’ll endeavour to answer them.
Thanks, Paul A
