Aspire Channel Swim 2016 – good luck guys

aspire

A couple of our Club members and supporters (Graeme Bradley and Sue Thorpe) are participating in this year’s Aspire Channel Swim.  They will be swimming the distance of the English Channel over 12 weeks ( 12th Sept to 5th Dec), raising money for Aspire and people paralysed by Spinal Cord Injury.

This is a really worthwhile cause and the whole of GAW ASC wish both Graeme and Sue good luck with this challenge.  Please offer your support and encouragement if you see them.

Find out more about the challenge see the below link:-

Graeme and Sue have provided the following :-
“I started my channel swim challenge last week and decided to make it more challenging by completing it kicking only. I’ve had a good start and it looks like I might complete the challenge in four weeks.
The decision to kick only is that I’m trying to improve my front crawl and my kick is terrible. Hopefully this will improve my stroke and help people with spinal injuries in the process.
There should be a link to my just giving account through my attached profile – http://aspirechannelswim.co.uk/user/u/6332  .  Thanks Graeme”
“My name is Sue Thorpe and I have signed up for the challenge of swimming the equivalent number of lengths to cover 22miles. I started my competitive swimming at the age of 9, as a member of Whickham ASC and Gateshead Metro SC. So as a very ex swimmer, I wanted to get fit again, hence the challenge.

As I’m away during the challenge period, I have to do 157 lengths per week!  I have family and friends sponsors and I know I can achieve the goal….see you in the pool !!!!! 😉”
