Richmond Dales Back to Pool Report

Potential Squad
After the summer break, the Potential swimmers returned to the pool to make preparations for their first competition of the season.  Well we certainly made a “Splash in the back to pool”!!!!

The competing swimmers were awesome and they gave some fantastic performances. With a full programme of events, which made for a really long weekend, the swimmers stepped up and gave their best which shows in the results.

They competed in 99 swims and produced 69 personal best times. Some attaining N&D/NER qualifying times; others ever getting closer.

Congratulations to all swimmers and roll on Chester-Le-Street!!!!

Performance Squad

Throwing off the shackles of some intense early season training, Performance Group athletes bounced back into competition with vigour at the Neptune Centre in Middlesbrough.

With focus solely on race skills, technique, and delivering quality race plans, this gala provided a great launch pad for the season to come.  Although there were plenty of best times to be had, I was very much enthused by the level of intensity swimmers, both senior and junior, competed at.  This was perhaps best highlighted by the squad’s performance in the skins competitions where team GAW took two of the four titles on offer, filling the finals with numerous GAW hats.  As coach, I’m still waiting on my cut of the winnings…. I might be waiting a while yet!

Well done to all that swam 🙂

Points to work on:

  1. Intensity (not just distance) on all underwater work
  2. Effectiveness of starts
  3. Positive attitudes towards multi-eventing, 100% effort in every race
  4. Breathing discipline during races, through turns, last 10m
