New Executive Committee members appointed

The Club is very pleased to announce the appointment of two new members of the Executive Committee. Martin Connelly is now the Club’s chairperson and Emrys Pritchard has taken over the operations role. These appointments mean the Committee is back to a full complement.

Martin shares a long history with the club; competing, supporting his children from poolside and contributing to the establishment of many of the club structures at all levels, including coaching and chairing the Committee once before.

Outside of swimming, Martin works in the field of marine asset protection, running his own software business, “UltraMAP Limited”, and is a director of SeaGard Limited.

Emrys is a Chartered Health and Safety Practitioner, currently working as the Director of Health and Safety at Northumbria University. In this role he’s responsible for all aspects of safety for 35,000 students and 2,500 staff. Prior to this, he was Head of Health, Safety and Compliance at G4S Facilities Management. He spent 24 years in HM Forces – Royal Engineers serving globally including countries such Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland.

He is married to Jo and has two children; Owen and Chloe, who is currently in Competitive Development.

The Committee is delighted Martin and Emrys have agreed to join the Executive team and look forward to working with them to continue to provide an enjoyable, nurturing environment for our swimmers to reach their full potential.

All change on the GAW bus – We now have a new Website Manager

Norman Thompson has taken over from Steven Reynolds as Website Manager and is now responsible for all of the Club’s online systems – website, e-commerce and email.

The Club’s Committee are grateful to Norman for volunteering to take on this vital role.

The Committee would also like to thank Steven Reynolds for his commitment and hard work in the fulfilment of duties as Website Manager for the past 8 years.

In addition Carol Copeland has taken over from Karen Hutchinson as Squad Rep for Potential Age Group Squad.

The Club’s Committee welcome Jeanette and Carol and thank them for volunteering to take on these key roles, without which the Club’s day to day operations would struggle.
