NEW GO Gateshead: Introducing a new barefoot policy

Below is an extract from the Go Gateshead website regarding their “NO OUTDOOR SHOES POLICY” on poolside at Gateshead pools.

Introducing our new barefoot policy

At GO Gateshead we’re passionate about providing exceptional customer service, and if we can do so while also doing our bit to help the environment, everyone’s a winner. That’s why we’ve introduced a new barefoot policy.

From Friday 22 February 2019, we respectfully request that all customers accessing our swim changing, poolside, steam rooms or saunas remove any outdoor footwear before doing so. This applies to all our leisure centres, and will prevent any dirt or bacteria being transferred from shoes onto flooring, maintaining high-levels of hygiene and cleanliness.

Due to the environmental impact of single use plastics, we will no longer be offering our customers overshoes for use in these areas.

Customers can bring clean alternative footwear such as flip-flops, to wear in wet areas if they wish, however these should not be worn outside at any time.

Our customers cooperation with this policy is greatly appreciated.
