Dear Diddy Leaguers
What a fantastic afternoon of swimming at Haven Point, South Shields for the Division One Final of the Northumberland and Durham Junior ‘Diddy’ League 2015 in which Gateshead and Whickham ASC demonstrated what it means to be part of a great team. From the youngest swimmers to the more ‘experienced’ coaches, everyone was absolutely terrific. That team effort, including the support of the team manager, swimmers’ parents, helpers, judges and a few of the older swimmers from past and present that came along to cheer them on today, delivered the most fantastic win for our Diddy Team.
Thanks also to all of those coaches, teachers, committee members, squad reps, parents and helpers that couldn’t be there today, simply because they were too busy making the rest of the club and our swimmers tick! That means absolutely everyone! Without you all, none of this would have been possible and we will need your continued support over the coming months.
Well done again everyone, and from me personally, thanks for all of your support. Onwards and upwards!!
DiddyChamps – pics and video compilation supplied by Andy Finley, many thanks.
We have already received numerous notes from Gateshead council officers offering congratulations. And Dave Anderson MP asked me to pass on his personal congratulations to the team
Kind regards,
Andy
Club Chairman

Dear Diddy Leaguers
With the Junior League final fast approaching I’d like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has given their fantastic support to Team GAW. Parents, coaches, and our indispensable team manager have all helped enrich what has been a brilliant experience. But it is the athletes themselves that really bring the ‘Diddy League’ to life and this year has witnessed our largest ever squad, with over 60 GAW athletes competing during the course of the qualifying heats. Every single one of you has contributed to a fantastic team effort and deserves massive congratulations.
The Junior League is a great part of the swimming club experience, often the first (and most exciting) opportunity for our younger swimmers to compete. This year I’ve felt it important for as many children as possible be given the opportunity of taking part in this unique experience, and every single swimmer has performed magnificently in representing their club. Selection for the final has proved incredibly difficult as we are blessed with so many talented swimmers, many of whom would walk into any of the other competing finalist’s teams. However, the squad has been chosen and unfortunately there isn’t enough space (particularly on poolside!) for everyone to be part of our final squad. I feel that everyone that has competed previously should be part of the final and as such, would like to invite as many of you as possible to come along, support from the galleries, and be part of of the event. Come along in your team colours and don’t forget your cheering voices, It’d be great to hear that GAW Roar!
I’d like us to congregate, supporters and athletes, outside the venue at 2.10pm so we can crank up the singing and get a bit of atmosphere going!
Again, a massive thank you to everyone involved in this year’s Diddy League

6th & 7th June 2015
You may have noticed that there was a photographer (Peter Lawrence) taking photos at the Charity Swim over the weekend.
The purpose was to celebrate the swimmers’ achievements and to boost the charity effort still further. Peter has created a separate album (each with unique passwords) and photos are available for parents to purchase up until the end of June after which time they will be removed.
The password for the Gateshead & Whickham Album is available from Squad Reps.

It was great to see a club record 27 swimmers turn out to morning training at Elswick International Aquatic Centre. It must be the Coach K factor! #TeamGAW pic.twitter.com/pYDg3c8DKr
