Who’s it for? This event is ONLY for swimmers who have not swum faster than the qualifying IM time provided in the GAW Christmas Meet 2019 – Conditions

REPORT: Tynemouth Winter Gala 22-24 November 2019

Sorry for the delay, life got in the way.

Tynemouth was hosting a marathon of a gala starting on the Friday evening with the 200s free and IM.  With the majority of the swimmers gaining personal best times it was a great start and spirts were high.

 
Moving onto Saturday morning, it began with a notable swims from Faye Brown and Erica Mould in the 400 IM. The morning flowed with personal best times abound.
 
Into the afternoon with boys 400 Free and again notable swims by Cole Reid, Ethan Storey and Oliver Quigley.  Throughout the long afternoon session there was a mixture of results, however, the swimmers gave their best efforts. The last couple of events – girls 200 breaststroke and boys 100 IM still provided personal best times and a notable technical swim by Kate Binningsley. 

Sunday took awhile to get started and the swimmers were feeling the Friday night session; but onwards they pushed to get into the swim of things in the boys 100 back with good swims from Oliver and Ethan.  The afternoon session started with the girls 400 free and oh how they stepped it up with Chloe Stephenson smashing her entry time and Amie Errington, Erica, Maia Stovold and Anabel Gaish all getting best  times.  With the following event being the 100 free sprint all swimmers were on or beating their previous times by up to 3 seconds!! As we progressed through the afternoon session again had mixed results but still the swimmers were supportive to team mates.
 
Finally we arrived at the final couple of events – boys 200 back and girls 100 IM ; Chloe still smashing those times and a notable swim by Isla Johnson, with older girls Jessica Milburn and Evie Johnson gaining best times.

Absolutely massive congratulations to all swimmers and bring on the next event – our home gala!!!

GAW welcomes new chairman

The club is delighted to announce Emrys Pritchard as the new chairman.

Emrys has taken over from Martin Connelly who stepped down from the role earlier this month after two years of much appreciated hard work and dedication to the role.

GAW extends a very warm welcome to Emrys.

Local business unveiled as new supplier

Thank you to everyone who contributed to our recent survey about our club kit.

The overall consensus was to use a local supplier that was better value for money.

We are delighted to announce that Logos Unlimited will supply our kit going forward.

The kit will be able to order online in the next couple of weeks.  You can view the range of products available here.
